Ken Getz portraitWe’re delighted to bring you the second edition of Patients as Partners, CISCRP’s quarterly update on many of its programs and initiatives.  As I’m sure you’ll agree, it has been an extremely productive period for us.  During the past several months, CISCRP conducted a well-attended AWARE-for-All program in Houston; facilitated and participated in four educational conferences; launched the second edition of The Gift of Participation; received and assisted a number of new pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies in providing lay language summaries of clinical trial results to their study volunteers; published five articles in peer-reviewed and trade publications; and welcomed new staff to the CISCRP team.  We also were a finalist in the Collaborate Innovate event where CISCRP presented its concept for a science museum exhibit to educate elementary through high school aged children about the important role that clinical research volunteers play in advancing public health.

Of course we could not accomplish any of these initiatives without your participation and financial support.  And we’re deeply grateful.

As summer approaches, CISCRP looks forward to continuing to build momentum in the growing movement to put patients and the public at the heart of all that is done in clinical research.  Education and outreach are critical elements of public and patient engagement.  Please contact us if you wish to get more involved in any of our programs.  This second issue of our newsletter features a number of refinements that we hope will make it even easier to read and share.  As always, we welcome your feedback on ways we can continue to improve our newsletter.

Best regards,

Ken
