As we welcome fall and bid farewell to a beautiful Boston summer, the CISCRP team is excited to share with you the latest edition of Patients as Partners. Summer has often brought a lull in activity and an opportunity for planning and evaluation—not this year! This summer has been buzzing with growing numbers of projects and programs, new initiatives, and new possibilities for collaboration. I began working for CISCRP less than a year ago, but the growth I have seen and been lucky enough to contribute to, is exponential.
In June, CISCRP exhibited at the DIA meeting in San Diego for the first time in many years and coordinated the Medical Heroes Appreciation 5K Run & Walk to honor study volunteers. Through the 5K, we aimed to bring professionals and patients together to recognize the important role of clinical trial volunteers, and in doing so, we hoped to add a new layer of value to the experience at the DIA meeting. The incredible spirit of the event and the response of participants exceeded our goals, and solidified plans to continue this tradition.
Currently, we are gearing up for even more activity in the next few months. Community outreach and preparations for AWARE For All– Boston on October 27th are in full swing. The Medical Heroes Museum Exhibit, a new initiative to bring interactive clinical research education to the next generation, is entering the final stages of development. In an exciting collaboration with Acurian, we will be holding five new Perceptions & Insights Meetings in various cities through the end of 2015, so keep an eye out for an event near you!
Additionally, the Trial Results program just welcomed Julia Farides-Mitchell to help support their growing needs. She is thrilled to be using her expertise to support this extremely valuable program for study volunteers.
