Astra Zeneca’s Study Recruitment Center and the Multicultural Competency groups collaborated with the Center for Information and Study on Clinical Research Participation (CISCRP) to make possible the development of  new community education materials targeted at African Americans and Hispanics. The new brochures & DVDs are available to the public.

• Alfonso Alanis, MD, is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Anaclim, an Indianapolis-based contract research organization established specifically to address issues involving minority participation in clinical trials. Formerly Chief Medical Officer at Eli Lilly, Dr. Alanis is originally from Mexico.
• Yull Arriaga, MD, is from Peru and a medical oncologist at the Simmons Cancer Center at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas.
• Mauricio Roque Delgado-Ayala MD, FAAN, FRCPC, is a professor of neurology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. Educated and trained in Mexico and Canada, he does clinical research in cerebral palsy, pediatric neurophysiology, and pediatric neurorehabilitation.
• Maria Ramos-Roman, MD, is an assistant professor of internal medicine-endocrinology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. Originally from Puerto Rico, she is affiliated with the Network of Minority Research Investigators.
• Juan R. Sanabria, M.D., M.Sc., FRCSC, FACS, is a transplant surgeon and clinical researcher at Case Western University School of Medicine. Originally from Colombia, Dr. Sanabria  is involved in clinical research for cancer and diabetes. He is Director of the Pancreas Transplant Program at University Hospitals of Cleveland, Case Western Reserve University.
• Javier F. Sevilla Mártir, MD, is Director of International Medicine and Hispanic Health at the Indiana University Department of Family Medicine. Originally from Honduras, he has expertise in underserved medicine, cultural competence in health care, quality of care, and international and missionary medicine.
• Alfredo Lopez-Yunez, MD, is the founder and director of Centro Medico Alivio (Alivio Medical Center), an institution dedicated to providing health care to low-income and underserved patients. He is originally from Colombia.
• Maritza Layport, is a professor of Spanish at Lorain Community College in Elyria, Ohio, and a teacher of Spanish at Steele High School in Amherst, Ohio.
• Marlena Vega, PhD, is a psycho-oncologist, breast and skin cancer survivor, and one of the nation’s foremost experts on survivorship. CEO of the non-profit organization, Sobrevivir/A Will to Live, Dr. Vega works extensively with Hispanic women about issues in mental and physical health.
